Robotic surgery has brought technical breakthrough to laparoscopic surgery.
Robotic surgery first appeared on the surgical landscape in the late 1990s. Over the last 20 years, technological advances have allowed for its rapid development and an upsurge in the number of centres that are equipped.

When compared to laparoscopy, robotic surgery offers a number of advantages, including the high degree of movement of the instruments which are able to reproduce the surgeon’s wrist movements, image stability and 3-dimensional views as well as ergonomics and increased ease of use for the surgeon, even during prolonged operations.
Robotic surgery however, entails additional costs due to the price of the instruments and the robot itself. We use robotic surgery in situations where it provides an undeniable advantage over conventional laparoscopy, as in the case of diaphragmatic surgery.
The project for the robotic surgery training center was established at the Tivoli-Ducos Clinic, with the participation of Professor Roman and Dr. Merlot, featuring live surgeries and visits from French and foreign surgeons.
