Robotic surgery is a technical breakthrough in laparoscopic surgery
Robotic surgery first appeared on the surgical scene in the late 90s. Over the past 20 years, technological advances have led to rapid development and an explosion in the number of centers equipped.
Use of robotic surgery for endometriosis
Robotic surgery is used in a wide range of surgical fields: urology, gynecology, thoracics, digestive, cardiovascular, etc.
Compared with laparoscopy, robotic surgery offers a number of advantages, including the remarkable mobility of the instruments, which are capable of reproducing the surgeon's wrist movements, image stability, 3-D vision, ergonomics and surgeon comfort, even during prolonged procedures.
Robotic surgery does, however, entail additional costs in terms of instruments and the robot itself. We prefer to use it in situations where its advantage over conventional laparoscopy is obvious, such as diaphragmatic surgery.
The robotic surgery training center project was launched at the Clinique Tivoli-Ducos, with the participation of Pr Roman and Dr Merlot, featuring live surgery and visits from surgeons from France and abroad.
