Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a disease of gynecological origin, which can affect several pelvic and abdominal organs, responsible for a wide range of painful symptoms, disrupting the activity of various organs and potentially leading to infertility. Its prevalence is high among young women, estimated at between 5% and 10% of the population of childbearing age.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic disease that affects one woman in ten. Where does it come from? How does it evolve? What are the consequences for affected women?

What is adenomyosis?

Adenomyosis refers to a series of changes occurring strictly within the uterus, leading to the presence of uterine mucosa within the muscular layer of the uterus.

Types of endometriosis

From a didactic point of view, endometriosis lesions are classified into 3 major groups, which may be associated in the same woman. In theory, endometriosis lesions can be found anywhere in the pelvis and abdomen, and more rarely in the thorax.

Symptoms of endometriosis

Endometriosis is responsible for a variety of painful symptoms, which appear during or around the menstrual period. Over the years, other pains may become more intense.

Diagnosis of endometriosis

This little-known disease is difficult to diagnose, even in medical circles. Most women are treated after several years of quiet evolution.

Treatments for endometriosis

Although there is no specific treatment for endometriosis cells, there are now solutions available to improve the quality of life of affected women. Although amenorrhea has a favorable effect on endometriosis, in some cases surgical treatment is necessary to remove the lesions.
