Clinical research
on endometriosis

The Institut Franco Européen Multidisciplinaire d'Endométriose (IFEM Endo) is developing an intense clinical research activity, which is internationally recognized.

The research activity follows different orientations:

analysis

patient data

Our center has its own "IFEM Endo" cohort, which has been collecting data from all patients since 2021. More than 9,500 patients participate in this registry, which helps to improve knowledge and the care pathway.

To improve our patients' knowledge and care pathways, IFEM Endo took part in the CIRENDO cohort (Cohorte Inter-Régionale Nord-Ouest des patientes opérées d'une Endométriose), which Prof. Horace Roman set up at Rouen University Hospital in June 2009, with the support of Rouen University Hospital (cohort promoter) and the G4 group (Lille, Rouen, Amiens and Caen University Hospital). This cohort enjoys wide international recognition, thanks to the large number of patients (over 3,500) followed over the long term. This cohort has enabled the publication of numerous clinical studies focusing on the surgical management of various forms of endometriosis, mainly of the digestive tract and ovaries. NCT02294825.

Today, our center benefits from its own "IFEM Endo" cohort, in which data are collected on all patients having a 1st appointment with our surgeons (unless they object). Since 2021, more than 9,500 patients have been enrolled in this registry, hosted by the NO ENDO platform, which enables long-term follow-up of our endometriosis patients. Numerous scientific articles have been published thanks to this cohort.

tests

clinics

Our doctors are committed to offering their patients the latest therapeutic and technological innovations through participation in clinical trials. Our aim is to constantly improve the quality of patient care.

The clinical trials we develop and/or participate in aim to :

  • Improved diagnosis to overcome the medical wandering suffered by endometriosis patients
  • Improving care pathways (drug treatment, surgical techniques, complementary therapies, etc.)
  • Improving patients' quality of life.

participate

to a research protocol

At the end of the consultation, your surgeon may suggest that you take part in a research protocol.

After explaining the purpose of the research, how it will be carried out, the benefits, the risks and your rights, you will be given an information sheet to read. You will then be given time to reflect on your decision. Whether or not you agree to take part, your decision will in no way affect the quality of future care.

If you agree to take part, and after asking all your questions, your agreement will be obtained orally or in writing by signing a consent form. Your participation will be recorded in your medical file.

You will then meet the clinical research team, who will guide you, ensure that the protocol runs smoothly and coordinate your care. They will inform you of your next follow-up appointments, check on test deadlines, study safety and regulations, liaise with your various specialists, and collect medical data useful for the research.

Your rights
You can stop participating in a research protocol or the re-use of your data for research at any time, without justification, and without jeopardizing the quality of your care.

Scientific articles
endometriosis

From January 2018 to December 2024, the founding members of IFEM Endo authored or collaborated on 152 scientific articles, which were published in international or French journals: 129 original articles, 19 meta-analyses or literature reviews and 4 editorials.

These publications correspond to a total of 2,467 SIGAPS points.

53% of original scientific articles were published in rank A or B journals (the top 25% international scientific journals in the field of gynecology-obstetrics).

*The assessment of the scientific value of a publication is based on the SIGAPS system (Système d'Interrogation, de Gestion et d'Analyse des Publications Scientifiques), which was initiated at the CHRU de Lille in 2002 and aims to list and analyze scientific publications for establishments with medical research activities. The SIGAPS score is calculated according to journal category (rank A=8 points, B=6 points, C=4 points, D=3 points, E=2 points, NC=1 point) and the researcher's position among the authors, with the following coefficients: Author position 1=4 points, 2=3 points, 3=2 points, Intermediate=1 points, Second-to-last=3 points, Last=4 points. For example, an article with rank A as first author therefore has a score of 8×4, or 32 points. A journal's rank is established on the basis of the annual world ranking of scientific journals, by specialty (in our case, gynecology-obstetrics-fertility): the top 10% of journals are classified in rank A, the next 15% in rank B, the next 25% in rank C, the next 25% in rank D and the last 25% in rank E.
