Dr Olivier Veran, the French Minister for Health, has commissioned Dr Chrysoula Zacharopoulou, Member of the European Parliament, to set up a National Endometriosis Strategy. A meeting to launch the National Endometriosis Strategy Working Groups was held on April 2.
Prof. Horace Roman, together with Dr. Anne Bottet and Prof. Michael Grynberg, is in charge ofdeveloping a personalized and comprehensive treatment pathway for women suffering from endometriosis.
This pathway will combine the experience of the ROUENDOMETRIOSE network in Normandy, with that of the RESENDO network in Paris, the ENDAURA network, the relevant opinions of patients' associations, and other models tested in France and abroad. Previous health plans for cancer and obesity will also serve as models. This is a subject that has been raised several times in recent years, more specifically since 2013 when Dr Isabella Chanavaz-Lacheray and Ms Yasmine CANDAU, the president of EndoFrance, initiated steps with the DGOS for a national plan against endometriosis, just as there was previously a plan against cancer, another against obesity, another against Alzheimer's disease... Eight years on, this dream can become reality, if all the players work together towards a common goal.
Together with Prof. François Golfier and Prof. Michel Canis, Dr Isabella Chanavaz-Lacheray is responsible fordrawing up proposals for training healthcare professionals in endometriosis. Mrs Chanavaz-Lacheray has been particularly active in this field over the past 8 years, providing dozens of endometriosis training sessions for general practitioners, gynecologists, interns, students at the Rouen Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, physiotherapists, midwives and school nurses. She played a major role in the organization of the DIU on the management of endometriosis and adenomyosis, and in the drafting in 2017 of a chapter on the management of endometriosis, to be included in the program for the Épreuves Classantes Nationales des internes en médecine.
